250 Campaign Signs Destroyed

In the last few days, over 250 of my campaign signs have been attacked – not just pulled out, but slashed to pieces. This has been reported to the police.

It disappoints me that supporters of the other candidate feel the only way they can derail my campaign is by destroying my signs.

They obviously want to silence me as my values have struck a chord with the community in Division 9. The community of Division 9 value honesty and integrity and want more focus on the family and the community. These principles and values are the core of a successful community – a community that helps each other, a community that helps our children to feel supported and safe.

I love my community. This act will not silence me. In fact, it has steeled my resolve and gives added strength to my voice.

Vote 1 for Ted Shepherd and join me to Rebuild Division 9.

Firth Park Sports Complex

When I first campaigned for council one of the major issues affecting the district was the completion of the Firth Park Sports Complex.

It had only been half finished. There was a roof on top and half of the ground floor was built in but the balance area was a derelict site with swallow nests, no windows or doors and no internal walls or ceilings. It looked and was a mess.

During my first term in Council I worked tirelessly with the Labor State Member, Diane Reilly, and together we provided the funding to finish the building. By the time it was completed, it had been dormant for ten years. Following the building completion, I then moved on to other projects like completion of the Baseball diamond and buildings; doubling of the number of Netball Courts plus upgrades to their lighting; completion of two Rugby League fields with A Grade competition field lighting; completion of the Skateboard facility with shade trees and carparking; assist with extension of the Bowls Club; and, construction of the Mudgeeraba Music Centre at a cost in excess of one million dollars. All of these activities make up the Firth Park Complex.

With vision, we have the will and ability to also see the construction of our Mudgeeraba Swimming Pool complex and Hydrotherapy Pool. This project should never have been cancelled.

Vision for the Gold Coast Hinterland

Each weekend I will be driving through our division to discuss concerns with locals and review projects and ongoing maintenance that had been put in place during my terms as councillor to see what work has been done and what needs to be done.

Today I started with a road trip through our hinterland regions. It was upsetting to see the hard work by the community groups and myself go to waste with no progression and neglect to our roads, small businesses and natural bushland.

My vision for the hinterland was to preserve the area through selective eco tourism organised by our locals and community groups which allowed our small communities to grow and flourish.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be continuing my weekend reviews outlining to you our previous achievements and plans/proposals that were in place which have disappeared during the current term.

It’s my goal to reunite the small groups and communities that have been disassociated so that everyone has an equal voice.

Clover Hill Traffic Nightmare

Over the past couple of years I’ve watched the traffic issues around our division worsen. Along with the issue of hooning in particular through Bonogin, Numbinbah Valley and Highland Park it is clear we need a proactive councillor with the knowledge and determination to fix the issue.

Comment below any traffic issues you have around our division and let me solve them. Stay tuned for ‪#‎thefuturetuesday‬ for the solution to the Clover Hill School Traffic nightmare!
